Sprague Lake during the late spring. Sometimes, when you are heading in to Rocky Mountain National park, you just know when you are going to get that magical light. Despite all of Colorados beauty, it can actually be a very difficult place to capture on camera. On this day, however, it all worked out. Head over to the shop to bring this print home, which looks especially good on metal!
In 2021 I fractured my leg at Rocky Mountain National Park and Required emergent evacuation and ultimately surgical repair. Although Lost Lake is roughly 2 miles from the trailhead, this marked my first hike after an arduous recovery. But really the hardest part of the hike was trying to wrangle our young golden retriever, Ollie and getting him to cooperate while I looked for a compelling composition.

After years of backpacking in to the Indian Peaks Wilderness, I finally came away with this colorful sunrise!

Dream Lake, in Rocky Mountain National Park. I used a neutral density filter to prolong my shutter speed, helping accentuate the nature light creating a beautiful leading line to Hallet Peak
This was taken on my way down from Bierstadt Lake at sunrise in RMNP. The sunrise was a pretty big let down, but coming down the trail I found these beautiful aspens framing Longs Peak. A fall to remember in the Rockies!
