BIK’EHGO DA’IINAANII
My original name for this photography bore a christian reference. As I sat with the title for weeks before publishing, it felt wrong. ultimately I decided on Bik’ehgo Da’iinaanii which translates to “that which gives direction in life”. When looking at the above image I see a family, led by a prominent figure on the far right, providing direction. While I don’t claim to be an expert in the traditions of the Navajo, I hope this image encourages others to dive deeper in to its rich history, perhaps even giving direction to others.
